Karma, Greenside
An absolute must if you like your Indian cuisine. Christina Hinis is the owner of this small restaurant in upcoming area Greenside, Johannesburg. Her minimally decorated, earthy-zen eatery is hugely popular and big time value. Traditional kormas, tandoori dishes and biryanis fill the menu, as well as cheeky bunny-chows and quasi indian salads. Be warned: the vast portion sizes can lead to much over ordering. reservations in advance necessary.

Thelema Chardonnay 1999
The Thelema is since our discovery, a few years ago, our very precious house wine. During one of our visits to their estate, on the Hellshoogte pass, just outside Stellenbosch, we joined them as a member. This means nothing more than the yearly news letter and the exclusivity to order, before it goes into the supply chain. But this is more than worthwhile, as Thelema is a small wine estate with relatively small output. A bottle Thelema Chardonnay 1999 is difficult to find.
It has a complex nose: lemon-butter, butterscotch, toast, lime, tropical fruits (coconut and pineapple) exude from the glass. Zesty Palate has well-balanced fruit and wood, with a long finish. This is an absolute top wine.
